The life of Jacob is one to which most of us can relate. He doesn’t come across as a Daniel or Joseph, who always seem to get it right! No, Jacob’s flaws were right out there for us to see.
As we evaluate our own Christian lives, there are two great themes which we need to keep in mind: The wonders of the beauty and grace of God’s nature and the contrasting unworthiness of our own. These two must always be held in tandem. Seeing only one of the two creates an imbalance which unsteadies our walk with the Lord.
II Co 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.
