The Testing of Ahaz

King Ahaz reigned over the southern kingdom of Judah for 16 years. He was recorded as one who followed his own reasoning. God attempted to work with this man through His prophet Isaiah.  Ahaz was like a pilot being asked to trust his instruments and to deliberately turn away from his own feelings and reasoning. But rather than to trust God's Word and to walk by faith, he chose his own scheme to save him from the enemy. Subsequently, he brought disaster upon his nation. How often we are tempted to take things into our own hands and act on our gut feelings, when God is asking us to wait upon Him and to let Him handle it.
