Both systems glorify man and place the focus upon human sufficiency. Legalism is a system of "good" human activity. Philosophy leans upon human reason and solutions, disregarding the Divine will and giving man's logic higher importance than God's revealed Word.
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And you are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power.
