When difficulties come into our lives, it's so natural to set about working out our own solutions; thinking -now who do I know who can help me with this problem? To the human mind, waiting upon the Lord in prayer is thought of as inactivity. The human friend's voice is audible and their presence tangible. Our senses presuppose that the warm blood flowing through their veins makes their advise more real. This way of thinking coupled with an aversion to the unpleasant circumstances robs us of so much blessing. | Thus saith the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel: In returning and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength...and you would not.
